At the time of the Removals from Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, many of our ancestors went north into Canada seeking refuge. One group settled on Walpole Island, a piece of unceded land between Canada and the United States. The names of these Ancestors can be found on annuity rolls and other census records at the Walpole Island First Nation headquarters. The Walpole Island website has additional information on their genealogy resources. For more information, please contact:

  • The Jesuit Relations
    The Jesuit Relations is a 70-volume set of records and journals kept by the Jesuit missionaries to the Indian tribes of the United States. They contain a wealth of information, including baptismal, marriage and death records. The Jesuits had extensive contact with the Potawatomi. The Relations can often be found at larger downtown and university libraries.
