AMSBURY was a Census Assessor. 1885/1905--William and Matilda AMSBURY moved to Dwight, Kansas where William contracted to dig water wells in the area. 1880/1906--Later, their granddaughter, Emma Lamar, lived with them in Dwight and kept house. 1880/1906--Emma Lamar married Jim Balsh and continued to live with them in Dwight. 4 Apr 1905--Matilda AMSBURY age 83 years died at Dwight, Kansas. Benjamin Franklin (Frank) and Amy (Chinn) AMSBURY settled near Dwight, Kansas. 1890's--Frank AMSBURY was a veterinarian in and around Dwight, (first in partnership with Jim Balsh-livery stable-shop), Alta Vista, and White City. Veterinarians - Those animals did need doctoring! Two early vets known were Doctor J. L. Balch and Doctor B. F. AMSBURY who served in the first decade of this century. They worked in partnership and separately at times. Frank also became an undertaker, practicing both professions. Blacksmiths did not need to advertise and often did not. Early news items recorded such establishments as George Boyd and B. F. AMSBURY. Boyd and AMSBURY sold McCormick machines and rakes. 1908--Benjamin Franklin (Frank) and Amy (Chinn) AMSBURY moved to Alta Vista, Kansas where Frank practiced veterinary medicine.
