                  States. The contact between Jeremiah ORMSBY and his sons and
                  Slater was to build the machinery for the mill. The industry was

                  10 Sep 1840--William AMSBURY married Matilda BECKELHIMER in
                  Cincinnati, ClermontCo, Ohio.
                  
                  1840--Resided in Point Isabel, ClermontCo, OH.
                  
                  1849--William AMSBURY participated in the California Gold Rush.
                  
                  1860/1862--William H. AMSBURY was a veteran of the Civil War.  He
                  enlisted in OH, Company H, 1st KY Infantry.
                  
                  1864--Resided in Tipton, TiptonCo, Indiana.
                  
                  1872/1873--William and Matilda AMSBURY homesteaded in Morris
                  County south of what is now Dwight, Kansas.  Four daughters and
                  one son came with them.
                  
                  They became a part of the Slough Creek Community, where they
                  established a church, school and cemetery, along with the Chinns,
                  Swartz, Meyers and other families.
                  
                  William H. AMSBURY was a farmer.
                  Three daughters married and left the community.
                  
                  1885--They lived in Ohio Township, Morris County, Kansas.
                  William H. AMSBURY was a Census Assessor.
                  
                  1885/1905--William and Matilda AMSBURY moved to Dwight, Kansas
                  where William contracted to dig water wells in the area.
                  
                  1880/1906--Later, their granddaughter, Emma Lamar, lived with
                  them in Dwight and kept house.
                  
                  1880/1906--Emma Lamar married Jim Balsh and continued to live
                  with them in Dwight.
                  
                  4 Apr 1905--Matilda AMSBURY age 83 years died at Dwight, Kansas.
                  Matilda AMSBURY was buried in Dwight Cemetery.
                  
                  AFT 1905--Jim and Emma Lamar Balsh moved to Edna, Kansas.
                  
                  1908--William H. Amsbury then lived with his son, Benjamin

                  22 Feb 1864--Benjamin Franklin (Frank) AMSBURY was born at Point Isabel, Ohio.
                  
                  1872/1873--Benjamin Amsbury came with his parents from Ohio to Indiana and
                  homesteaded in Morris County south of what is now Dwight, Kansas.
                  
                  They became a part of the Slough Creek Community, where they established a church,
                  school and cemetery, along with the Chinns, Swartz, Meyers and other families.
                  
                  1885--They lived in Ohio Township, Morris County, Kansas.
                  
                  13 Sep 1888--Benjamin Franklin AMSBURY married Amy CHINN at Dwight, Kansas.
                  
                  Benjamin Franklin (Frank) and Amy (Chinn) AMSBURY settled near Dwight, Kansas.
                  
                  1890's--Frank AMSBURY was a veterinarian in and around Dwight, (first in partnership
                  with Jim Balsh-livery stable-shop), Alta Vista, and White City.
                  
                  Veterinarians - Those animals did need doctoring! Two early vets known were Doctor J.
                  L. Balch and Doctor B. F. AMSBURY who served in the first decade of this century.
                  They worked in partnership and separately at times.
                  
                  Frank also became an undertaker, practicing both professions.
                  
                  Blacksmiths did not need to advertise and often did not.  Early news items recorded
                  such establishments as George Boyd and B. F. AMSBURY.  Boyd and AMSBURY sold
                  McCormick machines and rakes.
                  
                  1908--Benjamin Franklin (Frank) and Amy (Chinn) AMSBURY moved to Alta Vista,
                  Kansas where Frank practiced veterinary medicine.  The house and barn at the
                  southwest edge of Alta Vista, Kansas where they lived.  ** We children loved that

                  12 Aug 1924--Benjamin Franklin AMSBURY died at West Palm Beach, Florida.  The
                  last service held in Morris Church was Benjamin Franklin (Frank) AMSBURY's funeral.
                  Benjamin Franklin AMSBURY was buried in Swartz Cemetery south of Dwight, Kansas.
                  
                  1948--Amy (Chinn) AMSBURY was living in Parsons, Kansas.
                  
                  19 Aug 1952--Amy (Chinn) AMSBURY died at Alta Vista, Kansas.  Amy (Chinn)
                  AMSBURY was buried in Swartz Cemetery south of Dwight, Kansas.
