Edward TAYLOR's Will
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1 Mar 1872--Boone County, Kentucky
Be it known that I, Edward TAYLOR, of the county and state
aforesaid, being of sound mind and knowing the uncertainty of
life and having some property, I make this my last will and
testament for the purpose of disposing of what property I have as
I wish it done after my death.
First, it is my wish and will that after all my just debts are
paid, that my beloved wife, Margaret TAYLOR, who has toiled with
me through life and helped make what property we possess, shall
have the full control, use and benefit during her natural life of
all the property, real and personal, which may be left of my
estate after my just debts are paid. After the death of my said
wife, it is my wish and will and thereby devise to my daughter,
Elizabeth TAYLOR (commonly called Bess) the house in which I now
reside, including the outhouse and ten acres of land to be laid
off in convenient shape around the said house. To my daughter,
Ellen, who also resides with us, I will and hereby devise four
hundred and fifty dollars, to be taken from whatever may be left
of my estate after the death of my wife, Margaret, and deducting
the land and improvements devised as aforesaid to Elizabeth
(commonly called Bess) and I further give and bequeath in
addition to the before mentioned bequests to my said two
daughters, Elizabeth and Ellen, in equal shares, all the beds,
bedding and household furniture of my estate that may be on hand
at the death of their said mother, Margaret TAYLOR, and I
further, in addition specially devise to my said daughter,
Elizabeth, one cow to be selected by her from the common stock of
cattle of my estate after the death of her said mother. I also
specially devise to my daughter, Margaret Morrison, a small
heifer, not having given her a cow when she married and left us.
The foregoing special devises to my daughters Elizabeth and Ellen
are made in consideration of their having remained with us and
with great care and labors, nursed their afflicted mother and me.
Second, having made such special devises as aforesaid and such as
I think just and right, it is my further wish and will that all
the remainder of my estate after deducting the foregoing said
special devises and after the death of my said wife, shall be
equally divided to our children, Mrs. Margaret Morrison, George
TAYLOR, Samuel TAYLOR, Mrs. Ann Jane McGlasson, Arthur TAYLOR,
Ellen TAYLOR and Elizabeth (commonly called Bess) TAYLOR, each of
them to share equally in the distribution of the remainder of my
estate after deducting the special devises as aforesaid, it being
distinctly understood that nothing devised in this, my last will,
is to pass to my children until after the death of my said wife,
Margaret, and further as part of this, my last will, I name and
wish appointed as executors, to carry into effect all its
provisions, my sons George TAYLOR and Samuel TAYLOR.
In witness, whereof I have written my name, day and date above
written. Signed Edward TAYLOR
