Family History of Henry SPEALMAN

Henry SPEALMAN was born 15 Feb 1820 at Malen Shein, Wertenburg, Germany; he died 1 Nov 1896 at Marysville, Kansas. He married Sarah Ann Reichert 24 Jun 1847 at Danville, Pennsylvania. She died 7 May 1898 at Marysville. Both are buried in the Deer Creek Cemetary near Marysville, Kansas.

The Spealman*s migrated westward, starting their home life in La Salle County, Illinois. Later they moved to another farm in Lee County, Illinois and finally migrated to Marysville, Kansas and established a 160 acre homestead in the early 1860*s. This is where they lived the remainder of their years.

Andrew Jackson Spealman, seventh child of Henry and Sarah, born 10 May 1864 in Paw Paw, Illinois; died 25 Dec 1921 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Andrew Jackson Spealman married Ella Ann Bentley 23 Sept 1885 at Marysville, Kansas. Ella Bentley, daughter of Samuel and Janetty (Dailey) Bentley. (see Bentley writeup) (pictures available)

Both Andrew and Ella were raised in eastern Kansas, along the Blue River Valley. After their marriage, they remained near Marysville until 1891 or 2 when they migrated westward to Ellis, Kansas; later moving again to a tree claim on the Rooks and Ellis county lines.

In 1911, the Spealmans headed westward again, driving three wagons and 20 head of heifers, arriving 11 March at their homestead in Lincoln County, Colorado, near Arriba.

Elcy Spealman was born 2 January 1887 at Marysville, Kansas; she passed away 11 Nov 1967 in a nursing home in Vancouver, Washington. She married Elmer Allen Burgess (see Marcus Burgess)
