Native Americans - The People
First Nations Histories
Lee Sultzman, historian once at First Nation, at wisicu@eskimo.com, lists native
people of what is now Kansas: Kansa, Comanche, Cherokee, Iowa,
Otoe, Missouri, Shawnee, Potawatomi, Fox, Sauk, Delaware, Ojibwa, Ottawa,
Mingo (Seneca of Sandusky), Iroquois (Seneca and Cayuga), Osage, Miami,
Illinois, Pawnee, Wichita, Apache, Kiowa, Kiowa-Apache, Arapaho, and
Cheyenne. There were also occasional visits and occupation by the Ute,
Lakota, Pueblo, and (as refugees in Kansas during the Civil War) Caddo,
Creek, Seminole, and Quapaw. May even have missed someone!
