Lakes

Where but in Barber County would you find three large spring-fed
lakes and a county-state lake for recreation? Elm Mills is the oldest.
It was originally a mill pont; then there were two lakes, one was for
fishing and boating, and the pool with the surf board for swimming.
Then in the late 1920's 99 Springs was built. There was at one time
a cafe and dance pavillion over the lakeside, a golf course, and future
plans for a landing strip. There are now swimming, fishing, and picnicking
  facilities.
Lake Arrowhead is perhaps far larger than either of the others. Skiing,
fishing, and other activities are available to members there; not to
mention the great Prairie Dog Town at the southwest corner of the lake
area. This covers several acres of pasture land.
All these lakes are private clubs used by members and their guests.
There are also living quarters and boat houses.
The Barber County State Lake is open to the public for fishing and
camping. There are picnic facilities at all the lakes.
