Arthur H. Colborn


     Arthur, the eleventh child of Frank and Alice Colborn, was raised on the farm with his parents, 
  brothers, and sisters. He received his education at College Hill School. He worked in partnership 
  with his father until his marriage to mary Ruth Vannaman at Cimarron, Kansas. Mary Hale, Judge of 
  Dodge City, married them July 26, 1922.
     I, Ruth, was born Feb. 12, 1901, at Hoxie, Kansas. I moved with my parents a few years later,
  to Barber County. I came to the county in a covered wagon. I received my education at the Mound
  Center School. There were 42 pupils in the one room school. Some of the teachers were Mary Anderson,
  Ruth Copley, Wesley Totten, till in 1917 I, with my family moved back to Cimarron where I lived till
  my marriage in July 1922.
     To this union 3 boys and 3 girls were born. Arthur Vannaman 1924-1954, was educated in Barber
  County Schools, served in the Navy 26 months. He was married to Esther in 1946. They had three
  children. Judith M. (Wolman) lives in Hawaii, and has five children. Terry Lee served in the Navy.
  Bobby Dean served in the Navy and lost his life while in the service of his country. Norma Jean
  died in infancy.
     Esther Dean received her education in Barber County schools, graduating from MLHS, then to
  Winfield to college. She taught school four years in Barber County, is married to Virgil Dotts.
  She lives in Denver. She has one daughter, Loretta Skeeters, who lives in Leavenworth, Kansas.
  Loretta is married to an Assembly of God minister.
     Dale, who married Marjorie Martin, has three sons. Dale and Marjorie both graduated from MLHS.
  The sons are James, Jerry and Jeff. Our daughter Audrey, with her husband, Harold Redford, and 
  son Randy, live in Wellington. She also graduated from MLHS; Randy from Harper County High.
  Audrey worked for several years with Southwestern Bell telephone.
     Our youngest son Gilbert, lives on the home place 7 miles southeast of Medicine Lodge. He 
  married Ada Conaway. They ahve three girls and one son. Gilbert farms and carpenters, and Ada has
  The Golden Key Salon. Vickie attends high school; Tanya intermediate and Brian primary.
     I attend the Assembly of God Church in Medicine Lodge.
