Pearl Coss
Pearl Mease, daughter of Henry Arthur and Laura (Wehling) Mease was born in Nashville,
Kansas, August 8, 1919. She attended Mumford and Cream Valley country schools and Isabel
High School.
Vernon Coss was born in Isabel, Kansas, July 5, 1918, the son of Clifford F. and
Eunice A. (Corbin) Coss. He grew up and spent his early years on the farm south of Isabel.
He attended school at Isabel and graduated from Isabel High School. He attended Friends
University. He served in the Air Force in World WAr II, was injured, and recieved the Purple
Heart.
Pearl Mease and Vernon Coss were married September 19, 1942, at Wichita, Kansas.
After Vernon's graduation from Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas, they made their
home in Medicine Lodge where their three daughters attended grade school and all graduated
from Medicine Lodge High School.
Kay married Bob Korff of Kiowa, Kansas. They have one son, Charles Frederick. Kay and
Bob farm the Forff land south of Kiowa.
Ann married Jerry Hanson of Medicine Lodge. They have two daughters, Ami Renae and
Andria Ann, and a son, Christian Lynn. Ann and Jerry operate a Standard Service Station in
Iowa City, Iowa.
Jan married Leon Wheat of Medicine Lodge. They have a son, Patrick Allen, and a daughter
Jamie LeAnne. Jan graduated withtop honors in her class from Boulder College and is an
accountant for Price Waterhouse in Denver, where she and the children live.
Pearl maintains her home in Medicine Lodge, where she is employed. Her grandchildren are
the joy in her life.
