Roy Crow


     If you drop in at the Santa Fe depot at Medicine Lodge, you'll soon become
  acquainted with Roy Crow. Roy was born March 11, 1926, the son of James A. and
  Avis Redding Crow, at Gibbon, Oklhamoa. The family came to Crystal Springs,
  Kansas, in 1928 where James was telegraph operator. Roy attended grade school
  at Crystal Springs and graduated from Harper High School in 1943. During his
  senior year, he began working for Santa Fe Railway Company. In 1944, Roy entered
  the Navy.
     Lois Silcott was born April 13, 1930, daughter of Harry and Adelia Selm Silcott,
  at Crisfield, Kansas Lois's family were farmers, so she attended rural schools.
  When her parents retired in 1941, they moved to Attica where Lois graduated from
  Attica High School in 1948.
     Following Roy's discharge in 1946 he returned to Harper and again worked for
  Santa Fe. He soon transferred to Attica where he was telegraph operator.
     Lois was employed at Rose Yocum's cafe and since Roy could not leave his post,
  she was sent from the cafe to deliver his lunch to the depot, and a romance
  developed.
     In 1948 Roy transferred to Sun City where he served as a telegraph operator.
  On October 14, 1949, Roy and Lois were married at Attica and established their
  home in Sun City.
     Barton L. Crow was born May 7, 1962 and Terry W. Crow was born April 14, 1964.
     In 1967 Roy transferred to Medicine Lodge as agent telegrapher, commuting from
  Sun City to Medicine Lodge until 1970 when they built their present home.
     Bart will graduate from Medicine Lodge High School with the class of 1980. He
  has been in football during his high school years. Terry is a Sophomore in Medicine
  Lodge High School.
     Roy is a member of the Masonic Lodge and OES, Lion's Club and American Legion.
  Lois is in OES and the family worship at the Christian Church in Medicine Lodge
  where they have held various offices.
