Leo Dick


     Leo Dick of Zenda, Kansas, and Laurine Marie Schreiner were married May 21,
  1945, in the St. Boniface Catholic Church at Sharon, Kansas. They established
  their home on her parent's farm (Frank and Anna Schreiner), four miles north-
  west of Sharon.
     On March 13, 1946, a son, Leo Jr. was born. On April 19, 1947, a curly-
  headed sister arrived. They named her Donna Mae. Then on Dec. 15, 1948, a
  blond-headed girl was welcomed, and she was named Carolyn Marie. To add
  company to these three, two more sisters came along. Darlene Ann, Sept. 13,
  1950, and Patricia Ann, March 17, 1952.
     In August of that year (1952) polio struck the community, and Donna was
  the first one stricken. She was taken to the St. Francis Hospital at Wichita.
  Two days later Darlene was also stricken and brought to Wichita for treatment,
  where the hospital rooms and halls wre filled with polio patients. Later
  Patricia became very ill but was treated at home. The doctor diagnosed it as
  polio in a light form.
     Kay Jean arrived July 11, 1954, Gerald Eugene on May 11, 1956, and the
  last one, a boy, Larry Dean, on July 12, 1958. All of these children were
  delivered by Dr. T.L. Waylan of Nashville, Kansas. They attended the St.
  Boniface Parochial grade school and graduated from the Sharon High School.
     Leo Jr. served in the Air Force for four years, then attended the Lear
  Seigler I.B.M. school at Oklahoma City, graduating with honors. He taught in
  this school for a year and then was hired by Champlin as a programmer analyst
  at Fort Worth, Texas. At present he is employed by the same company and lives
  at Enid, Oklahoma. He was married to Marily Larson of Kalispell, Montana, Nov.
  22, 1969, and they have two children, Melissa and Derek.
     Donna Mae graduated from Kansas State College at Manhatten with a Home
  Economics Degree. At present she is a secretary to the Centennial Life Ins.
  Co. at Shawnee Mission. She is married to Tom Owens, a lawyer in Lenexa, Kansas.
  They are the parents of two boys, Craig and Cuyler. They live in Overland Park,
  Kansas.
     Carolyn attended Wichita Business College and did secretarial work for Cessna 
  Aircraft in Wichita and Denville, New Jersey. She was married to Robert Theime
  July 6, 1968, and they live on a farm near Nashville, Kansas. They have three
  daughters, Cynthia, Julie and Rebecca Kay.
     Darlene attended Emporia State, Kansas State, and K.U. Colleges graduating
  as a registered therapist. She was married to Dale Couch Nov. 8, 1975. He is
  a photographer in Amarillo, Texas.
     Patricia (Patty) attended a Vo-Tech School at Wichita and is now employed
  at Furrs in Amarillo, Texas. She married Richard Bills, Dec. 13, 1975.
     Kay attended Wichita Business College and was employed by the Fourth
  National Bank. At present she is a teller at Buckingham National Bank in 
  Denver, Colo. She was married to Steve Ternes, Sept. 25, 1976.
     Gerald waorks for the Dresser-Titan Oil Well Service at Medicine Lodge,
  Kansas. He was married to Linda Wright Nov. 4, 1978, and they are the parents
  of a daughter, Lisa May.
     Larry is employed by the Barber County Highway Dept and resides in Sharon.
     Leo and Laurine still live on the Schreiner farm, where Leo does extensive
  farming.
