Peter John Dohm

Peter John Dohm, a young man of 23, arrived in Barber County in the spring
of 1905, from Olpe, Kansas. He married Anna Marak, his sweetheart from McCracken,
Kansdas, in the summer of 1907.
Peter and Anna farmed land two miles west and one mile north of Sharon, which
belonged to his father, Matthias Dohm. Their first three children, twins, Matt and
Mary, and Louis were born there.
The Dohms then journeyed to McCracken, Kansas, where Rosie joined the family in
1911. The six Dohms then moved to Olpe, Kansas, and Charles and Luella were born
there. Pete and his family traveled back to McCracken and returned to Barber
County in 1917, upon purchasing his mother's land, which he had farmed from 1905-11.
Anthony was born in 1919, Anita in 1921, Letha in 1923, Imelda, 1926, and their
  last child, Patricia, in 1932.
Pete, Anna, and their two youngest children moved to North Kansas City in 1941,
following the Depression. Peter Dohm died March 4, 1955. Anna Dohm died March 5,
  1969.
The Dohms had lost of fun, family gatherings, doing the farm chores, and
entertaining each other while growing up on thier farm here in Barber County. With
thirteen family members, they could easily have ball games, card games, or what-
ever. One memorable event occurred when Anthony was born during a blizzard on
January 5, 1919. Snow was drifted over the fences, but they packed little Anthony
in the wagon the same blustery day and made their way to St. Boniface Church to
  have him baptized.
Rosie Dohm and her husband, Julius Ditgen, who retired from Kansas City last
year, now reside in Sharon. Louis Dohm and his wife, Rosa Ditgen, have made their
home near Sharon in Barber County all their lives. After a long illness Louis
passed away April 10, 1979, at the age of 69 years. Two of Louis's sons, Robert
and John, make their homes in Barber County. Anthony Dohm married Betty Poindexter,
  and they reside in Attica.
From these eleven Dohm children have descended 36 grandchildren, 61 great-grand
  children, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
