Estel Gibson

Estel was born May 12, 1920, to Walter E. and Grace L. Gibson at Caldwell,
Kansas. In 1927, when Estel was seven years old, his family moved to Wichita,
Kansas, where he attended school. Estel met Lola G. Shelton while both were
attending North High School. Lola was born November 13, 1923, to Nathan F.
and Elizabeth 'Bessie' M> Shelton at Coldwater, Kansas. Her family moved to
Wichita, Kansas, in 1928 when Lola was five years old.
Estel and Lola were married in Wichita, KS, on November 13, 1942. To this
  union were born two children, a daughter named Lola Gayle on October 12, 1944;
and a son named Marvin Dale born on June 6, 1958.
In March of 1943 Estel entered the Army, where he served until January,
1946. Getting his basic training over, Estel was sent overseas to serve in
the New Guinea and Phillippines area. On returning from service, he worked
for Bob Fowler Grocery Store. After a brief period of time, Estel went to
watch repair school in Denver, Colorado. When he finished school, he worked
for Ray Gumm Jewelry Stor for about eighteen months. In February of 1949 the
family moved to Medicine Lodge. They came on the Fred Seaman Bus through a
snow that you couldn't see over the top of and only one lane of traffic with
pull offs every so far so cars could pass each other.
Estel worked for Metz Lumber Company for about eighteen months. After
working for Metz Lumber Co., he was hired in 1950 as a freight agent and
delivery man by Logue Truck Line. This was supposed to be a temporary job
lasting only two weeks. Logue Truck Line sold out in about 1951 to Whitworth
Truck Line, so Estel had a new boss. Whitworth Truck line operated until 1952,
selling at that time to Winters Truck Line, so once again Estell changed bosses.
In 1965 Estel started working at the U.S. Post Office, also keeping his job
  with Winter Truck Line.
Estel's and Lola's two children have married, so their family has grown.
Gayle was married in August of 1961 to George A. Roberts. They have two
daughters: Jennifer Lynn, born on March 30, 1963, and Vonda Lee born on May
2, 1965. Dale was married in September of 1978 to Linda A. Blohm.
Estel and Lola feel they have a wonderful family of two sons, two daughters,
  and two granddaughters.
