Robert Glynn

Our introduction to Medicine Lodge you might call a late night "Block
Party." As we settled into our beds, we heard a commotion and joined
everyone in the block in various array. A window peeker, discovered at
the window of a neighbor, bearing the mark of a gun butt broken on his
head, was caught when the "law" arrived.
Bob came to Medicine Lodge High School as Chemistry, Biology, and
Algebra teacher at a fabulous salary of $4,800 at the old school down
town. He helped plan the science facilities for the new high school.
My "roots" go back to Medicine Lodge where my grandfather, James
Simpson Thomas, lived near Carry Nation. They returned to Shelbyville,
Ill. and came back for the run into Cherokee Strip in 1893 by covered
wagon, claiming land in Aline, Oklahoma.
Bob was born at the farm home north of Cherokee, Oklahoma. He
graduated from Driftwood High in 1944. I was born in Middleton, Ohio,
attended 1 1/2 years of school there, moving to Aline to be near my
grandparents after my father's death in 1934. I graduated at Aline and
began nurses training at Cherokee Masonic Hospital where Bob was a
patient, home from Oklahoma A&M. We were married October 30, 1948, after
a year of weekend dating. Bob's father died in 1949, and moved to the
  family farm.
Bob received his B.S. inSoils in 1951, his teacher's certificate at
Northwestern, Alva, Oklahoma, and took his first teaching assignment at
Alva High School, commuting to the farm. He applied for and received a
NSF grant and got his Master's from OSU in 1958.
A phone call, a trip to Medicine Lodge to see the town, brought a
second teaching job which lasted 9 years, due to the warmth of friend-
ships, good doctors, schools and churches.
     Our children are Michael Stephan, (10-16-1949, Stillwater, Okla.);
Regina Kay, (5-24-1952); and Robert Lewis, (12-17-1956), both at Cherokee.
Our foster sons, Jimmy Keith Cole, (3-7-1946) and Timothy Von Cole, (12-7-
1946) were born at Hardtner, Kansas.
Jim graduated from MLHS in 1963, attended HCJC and received his BS in
education from KSC, Pittsburg, served 2 years in the U.S. Army, and is
working for Borg-Warner, Kansas City, Kansas.
Mike graduated from MLHS in 1967, received his BS in computer science
from KSU, Manhattan, and an MS at Renselar PolyTech of New York. He works
for Price Waterhouse and lives in Hartford, Conn.
Regina attended to 10th grade in Medicine Lodge, graduated at Hutchinson
in 1970, from HCJC, then received a BS and Master's in learning disabilities
from Ft. Hays State. She married Tommy Lynn Kimbrel 3-24-1972. They with
their son Brandon Luke, (8-31-1977) live on the Glynn farm near Cherokee.
Gina teaches learning disabilities at Burlington.
Bobby attended kindergarten through 5th grade in Medicine Lodge,
graduated from Hutchinson High in 1975, and attended HCJC. He married Janice
Ryel 12-31-1977. They and son, Timothy Michael (12-3-1978), live in
Oklahoma City, where Bobby is employed on construction of General Motors
  Plant.
The Glynns were active in Medicine Lodge Christian Church, Scouts,
athletics, JC's, and JC Jaynes. Bob was "Outstanding Young Teacher" in
1962. They now live in Hutchinson where Bob is Chairman of Chemistry Dept.
at HCJC, are active in Park place Christina Church. I pursue my hobby,
photography, and both enjoy "DIVIDENDS" from our lifelong investments,
  THE GRANDCHILDREN.
