James Elden Inslee
Elden had lived in Barber County off and on before he moved here with
his family in 1945.
Elden and Margurite Eileene Inslee and their two children, Gareld and
Jane, moved to a farm four and one half miles east of Isabel. Elden
farmed and raised cattle.
Gareld Wayne was born September 23, 1940. He completed twelve years at
the Isabel Consolidated School. He went on to spend nine years in the
National Guard. He married Janelda Jean Olmstead August 23, 1960. To this
union were born James DeWayne, Gareld Dean, Michael David, and Michelle
Deann. They now make their home at Pratt, Kansas.
Elizabeth Jane was born September 22, 1942. She also completed twelve
years of school in Isabel. She helped with her family and worked in the
family store. She married Lonnie Dean Frederick November 6, 1965. They have
two children, Brett Eugene and Melissa Renes, and make their home in Isabel.
On July 7, 1947, Nancy Elaine was born at the Inslee's home east of
Isabel. She attended the Isabel Consolidated School for twelve years, going
on to four years at Southwestern Sate University at Weatherford, Oklahoma.
She married Myron Russell Bales, April 26, 1969. They have two children,
John Elden and Cheryl LeAnn. They make their home at Sawyer, Kansas.
On February 21, 1951, Cecile Eileene was born. She was the last of the
children to graduate from Isabel. She married Benny Leroy Murphy on April
27, 1970. To this union were born Brenda Lee, Byron Elliott, and Bradley
Gene. The Murphy's make their home in Isabel.
May 30, 1956, Eva Marie was born. She completed the family. She started
her education at Isabel and finished at Medicine Lodge. She then attended
Professional Beauty College at Wichita, Kansas. She now works and lives in
Wichita.
The family, bought Dixon's Grocery in 1957. They were planning to move
to town when Mrs. Inslee took ill and departed her family September 20,
1958. The family moved to Iabel, where they lived and ran the grocery
store, Inslee's Market. In 1964 the store closed and later was torn down,
leaving the living quarters. Elden started working as a brick mason and
continued to farm. In the last few years his son has been working with
him. Elden remarried in 1968 to Viola Oller Blue. They make their home in
Isabel.
