Wynema Emmele James
I was the first born child of three childen born to the late S.G. (Ross)
and Jewel Rule Emmele, Hazelton, Kansas. The other two are Buford Emmele and
Wilma Emmele Combrink, both of Kiowa. Our father died July 11, 1964, and our
mother September 18, 1968.
I attended the Hazelton School all 12 years and graduated in 1934. In
September 1934, I entered Dague Business College in Wichita and attended until
April 1935.
I was home three years and in April, 1938, I started working for Western
Tank & Road Supply Co., Wichita, as a secretary. When the War conditions forced
them from the steel business, I went to work for Watkins, Inc., Wichita, and was
with them 7 years.
I was married to Myrl Quentin James of Wichita, January 5, 1946, at The
First Methodist church in Wichita.
Our only child, Shari Emmele, was born July 7, 1950. Shari attended
Field Elementary School, Kindergarten through the 6th grade, Mayberry Junior
High, and graduated from West High Schoolin May 1968. That Fall she entered The
Universitiy of Kansas at Lawrence and graduated in May,1972, wiht a B.S. in
Elementary Education. Shari married Danny Nicholas, Wichita, August 12, 1972.
Danny graduated from Wichita State University in May, 1976, with a degree in
Electrical Engineering. They moved to Overland Park right after he graduated,
where he was and still is employed by Black & Veatch Engineering firm in
Overland Park. Shari is employed by Yellow Freight Lines as a secretary to the
Auditing Division at the main company offices.
My husband Myrl, died of lung cancer in December 1976, after a very
short illness. We had owned our own business since April, 1947. We sold our
Rare Coin & Stamp Store two months before his death.
