John Kimsey, father of Fred R. Kimsey, was born at Mattoon, Illinois, Dec. 15, 1850.
     When he was nineteen years old, he married Nancy Jane Ellis. They had one daughter, Retta. 
     When Retta was eleven months old the mother died. Later Johan married Melissa Jane Carter. 
     They made their home in Eldorado Springs, Missouri. To this union five children were born, 
     one being Fred A. Kimsey. Mr. Kimsey came to Medicine Lodge in 1916, where he lived with 
     his son and daughter-in-law until Fred's death. He became a Christian, uniting with the 
     Christian Church when he was just a boy. He passed away April 3, 1930, at the age of 79 
     years. He has four grandchildren: Florence Albright, John, Freda Mease, and Jane Mease.
