William M. Lonker
William M. Longcor married Martha Ellen Moore in 1870, at Taylor County,
Iowa. They moved to Southwestern Oklahoma for a time then came to Barber
County, Kansas in about 1885. They first lived on a place west of Medicine
Lodge which is on the present Louis Orr property, and later moved south to
a place on Cedar Creek known as the G.S. Lonker Ranch in later years. Their
family included Nell (m. John Bloom), Charles B. (Enid, Okla.), Goerge S.
(ranched on family property), Ernest T. (m. Ocea Lawry), Pearl (m. Verne
Gibbs), Walter (m. Anna Curran, lived at Ashland, Kansas), Clara (m. L.S.
Watts), Hazel (1st. m. Owen Howland, 2nd. m. John Donohue, Chicago, Ill.),
Roy (res. Larned, Kansas), Lloyd (res. California), and Ira (died at 2 1/2
years in S.W. Okla.). William died in 1919 aged 72. Martha Ella died 1944,
age 91.
The name Longcor was changed about the time the family moved to Kansas.
All the men became "Lonker" except Charles, who was married before this
decision was made, and elected to retain the former spelling. Ernest T.
Lonker married Ocea Ola Lawry in 1900. They reaised 3 children, Ralph W.
(m. Marjorie Luallen) whose daughter Margarett Hough, resides in Medicine
Lodge; Audrice M. (m. George Crosby, 2nd. Fred Bosley) who resides in
Oregon and has two daughters, Vada Hansen and Eloise Carter; and Melvah E.
(m. Mildred Nelson) who had two sons, Donald W. (m. Barbara Lewis) who
resides in Medicine Lodge, and James M. (m. Bobbie Rittgers) who resided
on the Lonker Ranch S.W. of Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
