Marion Francis Lukens
Marion Francis Lukens was born in Harrison County, Ohio on December
27, 1858. As a young man he moved to Missouri, where he was a neighbor
of Frank and Jesse James. He always claimed the James Boys were not
such bad guys. Frank and Jesse sometimes stopped by his barn to feed
and water their horses, then Frank and Jesse would go to the house
and tell them they wanted dinner and they would leave money in the
feed box.
In 1883, Marion married Anna Eliza Wilson, Anna's father, Perry
Wilson, was killed by bushwhackers in 1864 during the Civil War.
In 1885, Marion and Anna came by covered wagon to a farm near
Nashville, Kansas. They lived in a sod house. Marion and Anna's first
child, Lucy Alice, came with them to Kansas. Twelve other children
were born here. They were: George Washington, Lorena, Julia Ann,
Perry Conway, Louise, Chester Frank, Mary Elizabeth, Earl Alenander,
Evelyn Sadie Cora, Minnie Rachel, Joe W., Marion Francis, and Glen
Wilson.
Marion passed away on November 13, 1938, and Anna on March 9, 1944.
