Ralph Lynn Lukens, Jr.
Ralph Lynn LUkens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Lukens, was born July
29, 1950, at Hardtner, Kansas. He attended grades one through eight at
Pleasant Hill country school located near the family ranch and farm
southwest of Medicine Lodge, Kansas. He graduated from Medicine Lodge
High School in 1968. He attended Northwestern State College at Alva,
Oklahoma, one year, he later enrolled in Oklahoma Ferrier's College
at Speary, Oklahoma where he graduated. Ralph was well known locally
for his horseshoeing skill.
Ralph Lynn met Johnanna Dougherty in the spring of 1969, and they
were united in marriage on July 18, 1970 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church
of Medicine Lodge. Later, Ralph Lynn joined St. Mark's as a tribute of
his love for God and his family. From this happy union of seven loved
filled years, a daughter, Tracy Lynn, was born on December 5, 1974. She
was the 'apple of her Daddy's eye." Lynn was always taking her places
with him. Tracy Lynn would go coon hunting with her Daddy, many a night.
Lynn had a great love for the sport as he did for many sports.
Ralph Lynn has two brothers, Teddy Gene and Steven Dean Lukens. They
spent many a happy hour playing and working together. He was employed by
Kewanee Oil Company for five years.
He sustained head injuries in an explosion on March 19, 1977, while
he was work. He entered into eternal rest on March 31, 1977, at Wesley
Medical Center at Wichita, Kansas.
Though Ralph Lynn's death seemed untimely and tragic, he would not
want those who cared for him to grieve forever. Rather, we should do as
he did while he was here, live every day to the fullest and look forward
to a wonderful reunion in eternity one day.
