Richard Lyman

Richard and Sallie Lyman moved to Medicine Lodge in 1948. Richard and
his brother, Bill, established an agency for Case tractors, and a machine
shop. As there was no building available, they built a large cement
building, containing a show room and work room. Subsequently, they built
their own homes on lots near the business building.
Richard was born on a Reno County farm near Burrton, Kansas. He attended
a country school and Haven High School. In 1943, the World War called him
and he joined the United States Air Force and was sent to Iwo Jima, where
he fought in the War of the Pacific. He was discharged in January, 1946.
He married Sallie Weterman of Onekema, Michigan. Richard and Sallie have
two children, Dean and Janis, both graduated from Medicine Lodge High
School. In 1954, the brothers started drilling water wells, a project which
keeps them busy, and acquainted them with a large area of Barber County and
     surrounding area.
