William H. Lyman
Bill and his brother Richard O. Lyman came to Medicine Lodge in the
spring of 1948 to construct for Robert H. Warwick a building to house
their implement business. They also built a house for Bill and his
family. The house was completed in March of 1949, and Bill, wife Reba
Z. and son Jon W. Lyman moved to Medicine Lodge.
At the time of their moving Jon was three years old. He attended
primary, intermediate and high school in Medicine Lodge. After graduation
Jon attended two years at Kansas State University and received his BS
degree from Emporia State College in 1968. He worked one year toward his
Master's degree in economics at Wichita State University.
After Jon started kindergarten, Reba worked two years as a telephone
operator in Medicine Lodge. She has been the bookkeeper for Lyman
Brothers for the past thirty years.
In the fall of 1952 Bill began constructing a water well drilling
rig and on completion started in the water well drilling business. Bill
is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Kansas State Water
Well Association, he served as president of the association in 1971-72.
The Lymans have enjoyed the friendliness of their customers, neighbors,
and friends in Medicine Lodge.
