Walter Mantey

   
 
        Walter and Ella Stewart Mantey, were married August 15, 1943 at the
     home of the brid's parents in Nashville, Kansas. Both were born and
     raised in the Nashville area. Walter was born August 5, 1912. Parents
     were William C. and Elsie (Stahll) Mantey. He was the second son of
     five children, three brothers and two sisters. Walter served in World
     War II in the Tank Corps. He died February 5, 1969.
        Ella was born February 28, 1918. Her parents were Charles and 
     Jospehine Hesse Stewart. She was the youngest child of six children,
     two brothers and four sisters.
        Walter and Ella moved to the Ridge, August 1946, when Walt's parents
     moved to Nashville, to the home place. The family moved here following
     the tornado of 1927, when their home was completely destroyed.
        Their children are Julie Ann Decker. She was born March 3, 1952 at
     Nashville, and married March 4, 1978 to Robert D. Decker; and now lives
     at Corpus Christi, Texas. William C. 'Bill' Mantey was born November 30, 
     1957 in Nashville, Kansas. Bill farms the home place. Both graduated
     from Sharon public schools. Julie in 1970 and Bill in 1976.
