Edgar Martin

   
       Edgar (Pete) Martin was born in Oklahoma May 7, 1897 and came to Forest
     City, Barber County, Kansas, when he was a young boy, with his parents,
     Nute and Elizabeth Martin who made their home there.
       Inez M. Hunt was born in Oklahoma, Indian Territory Ocotber 30, 1898.
     She came with her parents, John W. and Clara Hunt, to Lake City in the
     summer of 1915.
       Pete and Inez were married May 24, 1918 at Wellington, Kansas. Pete
     went into the service, joining the Army in August 1918.
       They lived at Forest City until 1934 when they moved to California for
     awhile, then came to Medicine Lodge where Pete worked for Lloyd Davis
     Sons International Harvester Company until he was forced to retire because
     of ill health. He was an emechanic.
       Edgar H. Martin died March 14, 1969. Inez continues to live in Medicine
     Lodge. She has worked at the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, cooked at
     the Sales Company Cafe, served Lions, Business and Professional Women,
     Junior/Senior banquests, catered and for the past several years has helped
     care for a number of shut-ins, older patients and has given of her strength
     and happy disposition to make their life more comfortable and pleasant.
       Pete and Inez's daughter and grandchildren have been a joy in their lives.
     Maxine married John M. Small June 10, 1947 at Medicine Lodge. They had
     four children born to them, one however died in infancy. Janice M. married
     Gary Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Smith, Coldwater, Kansas. They with 
     their children SharonK., Shawn M. and Kent Wayne live in Amarillo, Texas.
     Mary E. Small married Joe E. Bennett of Iuka, Kansas. They live at Pratt,
     Kansas with their three children, Christy R., Ryan Joe and Jeremy Jon.
     Robert M. Small married Sandra Mulican of Amarillo, Texas. They have one
     daughter, Amy Janette and live at Coats, Kansas.
       Inez's brother, Lawrence purchased the house next door to Inez and their
     sisters Myrtle Tyler, Mansfield, Arkansas and Faye Ely of California visit
     them often. They have another sister, Ethel Nurse, living in the Indian
     Hills Lodge and brother, Aaron Hunt, lives at Arkansas City, Kansas.
