Ellis McDaniel

I was born on a farm one mile south and one-half miles east of Pixley on the
morning of January 2, 1929. My parents were Royal and Marguerite Schnelle. Their
little famly now consisted of one boy and three girls. I was later to have five
  more brothers and one sister.
I spent my childhood on the farm but attended school in Medicine Lodge. My dad
took us to school every morning and returned in the evening to bring us home.
After graduating from high school in 1947, I attended summer school at Emporia
and taught in a rural school the following fall at Mumford (district 58) near
Nashville. I boarded with Peggy and Kenneth Singer and taught there three years.
I then taught the next seven years in Lake City as the Primary teacher and later
taught in Medicine Lodge where I am presently teaching as First Grade teacher. My
summers were spent gong to school until I finally recieved my BS degree from
Northwester State College at Alva, OK, in 1967.
During this time I met Ellis McDaniel, son of the late Wilbur and Rachel
  McDaniel of rural Attica.
Ellis ws born August 23, 1930, near Sharon. His family moved south of Mingona
and later moved to rural Attica, where Ellis graduated from Attica High School in
1948. He was drafted in the Army in 1951 and served in Korea. He was discharged in
1953 and began working on the George Stone farm, where he was working when I met
him. He started to work for National Gypsum in 1954.
We were married November 21, 1954, and we had two daughters; Lisa Gail was born
January 19, 1957, and Dena Jo was born March 12, 1961.
We live a mile north of Medicine Lodge now. Ellis still works for National Gypsum
and farms. I am still teaching. Lisa will graduate from Emporia this spring and plans
to teach next year. Dena graduates from Medicine Lodge High School and plans to go
to Hays and major in Nursing.
