Byron Mease
Byron Mease was born July 30, 1898, in Galena Missouri. He moved to Barber
County in 1912, and married Bertha Price Sept. 2, 1925. They had three children,
Everett J. (stillborn) 1926; Velma, June 11, 1928; and Harold Feb. 19, 1930.
Byron farmed and ranched. He believed in soil conservation, and received the
Barber County Soil Conservation Awardin 1951. He passed away July 7, 1974. Bertha
preceeded him in death, July 4, 1972.
Harold attended grade and high school in Isabel, graduated in 1948, and
farmed with his father untilhe went into the service in 1951. He served 20 months,
ten of which were in Korea. When he returned home he went into farming and ranching,
which he has continued to this time. He married Jane Lampe on July 24, 1955. They
have four children: Rocky, born June 26, 1956; Craig A., Sept 17, 1960; Pam, Dec.
4, 1961; and Penny, July 9, 1974. Rocky, Craig and Pam attended school in Isabel
until 1971. Rocky then graduated from high school and attended three Lutheran high
schools to start his study for the ministry. They were: St. JOhn's in Winfield,
Concordia in Seward, Nebraska, and Concordia in Cameron, Mo. He attended college for
one year in Winfield and graduated from Concordia St. College at Fort Wayne, Indiana
in 1977. He is now attending Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, where he has three
years remaining. He plans to marry Donna Bender of Fort Wayne on June 2, 1979.
Craig attended school in Medicine Lodge from 1971 until 1978 when he graduated.
He is now farming and ranching with his father.
Pam also attended school in Medicine Lodge since 1971, when the school in Isabel
was closed. She is now a Junior and enjoys painting and drawing Barber county scenes.
Penny will start school in Medicine in the fall of '79.
