Lois (Kenworthy) Mills
Lois (Kenworthy) Mills, born the third daughter to Margaret (Winn) Kenworthy
and the late Clifford Kenworthy, on Sept. 18, 1929, on the Jacob Achenbach place
west of Hardtner, Kansas.
There were ten children and grandmother, who occupied this household. She
remembers in her childhood, one of the special times was when they all gathered
around the old player piano, singing and having a good time.
She moved from there at the age of eight to the place south of Coats, on the
Barber County Line. She attended the rest of her school years at Coats. During
high school she participated in sports and all school activities.
After graduating in May, 1948, she married Norman H. Mills on Oct. 21, 1948,
and moved to Lake City to reside on the Tempel Mills ranch.
She was very active in the Lake City M.E. Church, YWCA and OES.
They have two children, Norman H. Mills, Jr. born February 1, 1951, and works
with his father and grandfather doing farm and ranch work, and Vickie Joe Mills,
born November 20, 1953, who lives in Pratt, Kansas, and is employed by Southwestern
Bell Telephone Co.
Life has been good to us and God has enriched us abundantly. The plan for the
future is to continue to work the land and tend the cattle, the only life we know.
