Harry Molz

Though not in the same year but on farmsteads located only four miles
apart Harry Molz and Reva Griffin first viewed the terrain of Barber
     County in Kiowa Township.
Hary Carl (Karl), the fourth child and thrid son of Charles and
Elizabetha Molz was born April 11, 1897. Reva Mae, daughter of Orion and
Minnie Griffin, eldest among three children made her appearance on December
7, in the year which marked the incoming century 1900.
Both Harry and Reva grew to adulthood on their parents' farms. They
became acquainted during social functions typical to rural life in the
area. They were married in 1919 following Harry's return from Military
service at the close of World War I.
Establishing a home in adjacent Woods County, Oklahoma in order to farm
acreages belonging to his father and oldest brother, the couple lived there
for almost forty years. There also their three children - Aleen, Dixie and
Carl - were born and reached adulthood.
However, throughout the time the Woods County home was maintained, they
still retained strong ties with Barber County. This was accomplished
through affiliation and active participation in the work of the Hardtner
Evangelical Church. This church had been founded by a group of German
settlers among whom Harry's parents had played a major role.
The Patton school district where they lived was associated with the Kansas
school system and the three Molz children, as well as all others in the
district, rode the bus to attend both elementary and secondary school in
     Hardtner.
In 1958 circumstances indicated this would be an appropriate time for
Harry and Reva to retire from active farm life. They purchased the Charles
Molz residence in Hardtner, renovated the structure and just prior to
Thanksgiving once again became Barber County residents.
The church continued to be of paramount importance in their lives. Harry
served as an officer of the council - the local governing body - and was an
active member of the Churchmen's Brotherhood from the time of its charter
     until his death in 1961.
Reva was an enthusiastic and capable supporter in the work of the Women's
Guild, was a Sunday School superintendent for a number of years, and a
longtime Sunday School teacher. She was also the first woman to serve on
     the church council.
Spiritual example relative to every area of this couple's life furnished
an imposing witness of living testimony which their children treasure.
Aleen Evangeline, the oldest, is a teacher in the elementary schools of
     Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Dixie Irene is an Extension Home Economist for Stafford County, Kansas.
Carl Griffin is an English teacher in the Colorado Springs school system.
Carl married Lucille Pauline McCann, also from Hardtner. Their children
are David CArl and Marquetta Pauline. David married Linda Elliot of Wichita
and they have two children - Christopher Keith and Darren david. Marquetta
married Danny Wilcox of Grand Prairie, Texas.
