Marvin Moomau
Ida Belle (Kenworthy) Moomau, eldest daughter of Margaret (Winn) Kenworthy
and the late Clifford Kenworthy was born Sept 28, 1923. I graduated from the
Coats High School in 1941. Marvin E. Moomau, better known by the nickname
"Buster" graduated from the Medicine Lodge High School in 1943. We were
introduced by a mutual friend at the Barber County Fair and a few months
later, were married in Pratt, Kansas. That will be 35 years this December.
After Buster was discharged from the Navy we moved to Medicine Lodge where
he worked at several different jobs. He was with White Construction, Blackwell
Service Station and mechanic for a local car dealer. Our son, Marvin, Jr. was
born while we lived in Medicine Lodge.
Buster went to work for National Cooperative Refinery Association as a
pumper and this September he will have been with the company 32 years. We lived
in Geneseo, Kansas a year, then was transferred to Holyrood, Kansas for 22
years. We moved to our present home in Stroud, Oklahoma in 1970.
I have been secretary for Lincoln County Dist. #1 county commissioner for
4 1/2 years. Our son has 13 years with the U.S. Air Force, a lovely wife and
three children.
The Lord has been good to us. We hope, Buster and I, that we can enjoy good
health, so we can retire in a few years and do what we enjoy, camping, fishing
and boating.
