Arthur Newsom

   
       Arthur W. Newsom was born in Bedford, Virginia, and came to Sharon,
     Kansas, at the age of 6 months with his parents, Jack and Nellie Newsom,
     and went to school at the Enon Rural School.
       Ethel M. White was born 3 miles east and 2 1/2 miles north of Sharon,
     Kansas. She was the daughter of Mott and Martha White. She went to school
     at Joint and Nine Cottonwood Rural school.
       Art Newsom and Ethel White were married in the home of her parents 
     4 1/2 miles east of Sharon, Kansas, September 8, 1908. The house is still 
     standing where they were married. After they were married, they moved 9
     miles west of Cherokee, Oklahoma, where they started farming and their
     son, Randall, was born.
       They lived and farmed in Oklahoma for 3 years, then moved 6 miles east
     of Sharon, Kansas, where two daughters were born, Maurine and Theda.
       They lived and farmed there for several years before buying and moving
     to the Hack Newsom farm 3 1/2 miles east and 1 mile south of Sharon, Kansas,
     where they lived and farmed the rest of their lives. Randall and Maurine 
     went to school at the Nine Cottonwood Rural School. Theda went to school
     at the Enon Rural School. Maurine and Theda graduated from Sharon High
     School.
       Randall married Marcella Dick. They live in Wichita, Kansas. He has
     retired from Boeing Aircraft Company.
       Maurine (deceased) married Glenn Werner. They farmed 1 miles south and
     1/2 mile east of Sharon, Kansas, and had 3 children. Harlean Werner
     Shockey lives in Wichita, Kansas. Gale Werner is deceased, and Larry
     Werner lives i Chanute, Kansas.
       Theda married Raymond Watkins. They live in Independence, Kansas, and
     own a dry cleaning business. They have 2 daughters. Sherryl lives in
     Lewisville, TExas, and LaRae lives in Independence, Kansas.
