Louis L. (Trey) Orr III

   
        Louis L. (Trey) Orr III, only son of Louis L. Orr Jr. and Freida L. Moon
     was born September 7, 1948 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Trey lived
     in Medicine Lodge and attended school there, graduating in 1966. He then
     entered Emporia Stae University, graduating in 1972 with a double major in 
     Biology and Psychology.
        August 1, 1970, he married Sherrill Kay Packard, daughter of C.C. 'Bill'
     Packard and Maida Anne Conner Packard. Sherrill was born May 13, 1952, at
     Hardtner. She and her three brothers were the fourth generation to live on
     the farm their family began in 1910. One of Sherrill's early memories is
     attending community services in the Forest City Church, which no longer 
     stands. She attended Mingona and MLHS graduating in 1970.
        After their marriage, Trey and Sherrill took turns working and putting 
     each other through school. In 1972, they moved to Syracuse, Kansas, for Trey's
     first teaching and coaching position. Sherrill had a beauty shop and drove a 
     school bus. While ther, Louis L. (Skip) Orr IV was born on February 21, 1974.
     He made two of the summer trips to Emporia, while Trey continued to work on
     his Master's Degree in counseling, finishing in 1976.
        In 1976, the Orrs moved to Cunningham wher Trey had his first counseling 
     position. Sherrill and Skip drove a school bus. They began farming summers
     in 1976, with Louis Orr Jr., making Trey the third generation to work the
     family farm in Medicine Lodge.
        In 1977, they moved to Conway Springs, Kansas, for Trey to accept a more
     challenging career in counceling and coaching. Sherrill spent 1977 studying
     and received her license as a Real Estate Salesperson August of 1978. In
     1977-1978, Sherrill commuted to WSU, working on an associate degree in
     paralegalism. In 1977, Skip and Sherrill organized the Conway Springs Library
     Story Hour for preschoolers and have taught it to date. Skip will begin
     kindergarten in 1979 at USD 356.
        Trey is a member of Lions Club, Quarterback Club, Kansas National Education
     Association, National Education Association, Kansas Personnel and Guidance
     Association, American Personnel and Guidance Association, Kansas School
     Counselors Association (Communications Chairman), Jay Cees, and teachers
     Hunter Safety classes.
        Sherrill is a member of the Kansas Cosmetology Association, Kansas Real
     Estate Association. SUmner County Real Estate Association, teaches classes
     at the Methodist Church and is a member of Lorraine Chapter of Eastern Star,
     and Medicine Lodge VFW Auxiliary.
        The Orrs are presently located in Conway Springs, but are engaged in 
     farming in Barber County during the summers.
