Bruce Papon

Bruce Papon nad his wife, Yvette Graves Papon, daughter of John and
Yvonne Graves of Hardtner, moved to Barber County in September of 1975,
where we bought a house in Hardtner, Kansas.
In March, 1973, we were married and finished college at Fort Hays
University in Hays, Kansas. Bruce recieved his Bachlor's degree in
Physical Education and Science. He attended college on a track scholarship,
participating in long distance running, and also as Presidentof the Rodeo
Club on campus. I received my B.S. degree in Business Education and also
was an active participant of the Rodeo Club, where I served as Secretary.
After graduation, we rodeoed in the amateur ranks. Bruce rode bulls and
fought bulls, while I ran barrels. In 1975 Bruce joined the PRCA
(Professional Rodes Cowboys Association) and began bullfighting
professionally. I joined the GRA (Girls Rodeo Association) in 1975 and
still compete in the Ladies Barrel Racing - another very competitive
      sport!
Decmeber 20, 1976, our little boy, Shawn Guy, was born and is also a
very active member of the family.
Bruce has a unique matched Roman riding team of mules that he has
trained since yearlings. They travel throughout the US and Canada as
the only Roman riding mules in the world today - The Jumping Jacks!
We also feature a barrel racing dog - Country Bumpkin - who is very
much a part of the family.
I taught school at Sharon High School in 1975-76 in Business and Bruce
has been a carpenter in the winter.
No matter where we go throughout the United States, we're always glad
to come home to Barber County.
