H. Lynn Randels
H. Lynn Randels ws born October 29, 1903, on a farm in Grant County,
Oklahoma. It was the farm where his parents had lived since the opening
of the Cherokee Strip for settlement.
On July 16, 1933, he married Margaret Zoe Davis, daughter of Lloyd
and Cora Davis, and there were two children born to them. Robert L., on
October 27, 1937, and Dorothy Jane on September 23, 1942.
After teaching for several years the family moved to their farm three
miles east of Medicine Lodge in May of 1942. They continued farming until
1963 when Robert and his family moved to the farm, and where he continues
farming.
The family of Robert and Phyllis Randels consists of six children,
Brenda Gates, Steven, Becky, Toni, Jay and Casey. Jane is married to Don
Myers and they live in Greeley, Colorado, with their two children, Michael
and Lori.
In 1943 Lynn was appointed Superintendent of Schools at Barber County.
He served in that capacity until 1945 when he resigned to enter the farm
implement business in a partnership with Lloyd Davis and Percy Miller,
until 1956 when the business was sold. During these years the farm program
was continued until Robert took over.
At the November 1956 election, Lynn was elected Probate Judge of Barber
County, a position held until April 1, 1978, when he resigned and retired.
Margaret died September 21, 1977. The residence is 410 North Main, Medicine
Lodge.
