David Rucker
David Rucker, youngest son of Lee and Ruby (Martin) Rucker, was born
4-16-48 at Nashville, Kansas. On coming home he was greeted by two
older brothers, Gary and Don. He grew up on his parents' farm between
Medicine Lodge and Sharon.
Like his brothers, David enjoyed going to Medicine Lodge to visit his
Grandmother Martin. She always had lots of good things to eat. Another
thing he enjoyed, and still does, was to go on a coon hunt. Besides
hunting, David rode horses for fun with the neighbor boy. He rode for
Ted Chapin at round-up time. David attended Walstead country school and
Sharon public shools through high school.
In 1966 David married Mary Simpson, daughter of Robert C. and Marjorie
(Rozzelle) Simpson. I was born at Hardtner, Kansas, on 8-9-48. I have
two older sisters, Phyllis Shelite, and Evelyn Pierce. I also have two
older brothers, Richard and Phillip.
We lived on our farm west of Medicine until I was nine years old. I
attended #10 school until the fourth grade. While on the farm, my favorite
pastime was riding horses with my brothers.
When I was nine, we moved in to Medicine Lodge. The rest of my schooling
was in the Medicine Lodge schools. I graduated in 1966.
After graduation, David and I were married. We lived in Medicine Lodge
where our two sons, Ron and Dusty, were born. In 1974 we bought a farm
east of Sharon, where we now live. Our boys attend school in Sharon.
