Flint Rucker

This native Barber County couple very possibly have the distinction of being
the most recently wed couple in "Chosen Land."
Flint Anthony, eldest child of Gary and Emmajo (Magnison) Rucker, was born
December 9, 1959, at Nashville, Kansas. When five days old, he was brought home
to his grandparents' farm between Medicine Lodge and Sharon. He went harveting
with his parents the next summer. That fall the family moved to Sharon.
In 1961, a brother, Link Bradley, joined the family. Only 13 1/4 months apart,
the two brothers shared a special relationship which was temporarily broken in
1978 by Link's home-going as a result of an automobile accident. In 1962 a sister
Jodi Lee, was born. Another brother, Nute Patrick, was born in 1966, and a sister
  Kelli Rae, in 1970.
April, 1964, the family moved south of Medicine Lodge to the McClure ranch
operated by Ted Chapin. October, 1964, they rented a farm and moved three miles
north of Medicine Lodge. The farm is now owned by Flint's grandparents, Lee and
Ruby Rucker. Flint grew to manhood on this farm. His parents still live there.
Flint attended the Medicine Lodge schools, graduating in 1978. Between seventh
and tenth grae Flint was to have three bone transplants to replace a foot bone
destroyed by a tumor. The third operation was successful when bone from Flint's
own leg was used. Flint is a country boy, enjoying his horses and dogs.
During his high school years, Flint met a Barber County girl from Sharon.
Toni Lynn LaCore, second daughter of Orville and Betty (Dallan) LaCore, was
born July 31, 1960, in Medicine Lodge.
Waiting at home in Sun City to greet Toni was her older sister, Donna, born
September 25, 1959. Two more sisters joined the family. Tammy was born July 28,
  1962, and July, September 13, 1963.
Toni attended grades one through six in Sun City school. In 1971 Toni moved
with her family to Sharon. There she completed her twelve years of schooling,
graduating in 1978. Toni was active in sports in school. After high school
graduation, Toni attended one year at Dodge City Community College.
On September 15, 1979 (deadline date for "Chosen Land"), Toni will begin a
new career as a housewife. Flint and Toni will be married at 5:00 pm at Toni's
home in Sharon on that date by Reverend Paul Clayton. A reception will follow
  in the Parish Hall.
The couple will be living in the Union Chapel community southwest of Medicine
Lodge. Flint is presently employed by his grandfather, John Magnison, in his
  farm and ranch operation.
September 15, 1979, marks the beginning of a new future for this Barber County
  couple in their "Chosen Land".
