Max E. Rynerson
Max and Mary could be considered "Middle Timers" to Barber County, as
they have spent most of their lives here.
Max was born in Jetmore, Kansas, in 1928, moving to Barber County in
1929, living north of Medicine Lodge on the Thomas Kinkaid farm. Max is
the son of Russell and Emma Rynerson. He attended grade and high school
in Isabel, graduating in 1946. He then spent two years in the army.
Mary is the daughter of Hobart and Berneice Reneau. Born in Sumner
County, Kansas, and moving to Medicine Lodge in 1936, she graduated from
Medicine Lodge High School and Grace Hospital School of Nursing, Hutchinson,
Kansas, in 1953.
Max and Mary were married in Lubbock, Texas, and spent the first five
years traveling over the United States while Max worked in Steel Construction.
Michael, their son, was born in 1955 in West Memphis, Arkansas. He is living
at home and working at the Medicine Lodge Gypsum Plant. Lisa Ann was born in
Muskogee, Oklahoma, in 1958. She is presently attending Fort Hays State.
Lori, the youngest, was born in Medicine in 1964 and is busy attending school.
Max and Mary returned to Medicine Lodge in 1960 and moved to their farm
3 miles west of town; in 1961 they built their new home. Max worked at the
Sawyer Co-operative from 1960-1977 and was general manager for nine years.
Always wanting a challenge, he presently owns a semi-truck and trailers and
is hauling grain. Mary works part time at the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital.
After our many unusual experiences while traveling and working in other
states, we truly appreciate the friendliness and togetherness of the people
of Barber County.
