Glenn L. Shriver

  
       Glenn LeRoy Shriver was born 28 April 1920, Medicine Lodge, Kansas;
     married 15 July 1942, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, to Helen Inis Hibbard,
     born 4 August 1919, Medicine Lodge, Kansas; died 9 April 1960, Pratt, 
     Kansas; daughter of George Alan Hibbard and Nellie Faye (Glazier)
     Hibbard. Married second 9 July 1961, ElDorado, Kansas, to Pauline
     Elizabeth Shidler. Glenn LeRoy Shriver is the son of Herschell Arze
     Shriver and Cuba Edna Shriver.
       Glenn was born on the Alexander Ranch in southern Barber County,
     attended grade school at District 21 near Forest City, Medicine Lodge
     High School, Kansas State University, ant the American School of Banking.
     Glenn was active in athletics in high school, Student Council President,
     music and dramatics, FFA and 4-H Club work. While attending high school,
     Glenn and his sister Irene did light housekeeping in the Shell and Lusk
     homes. Glenn graduated from Kansas State University with a Degree in 
     Agriculture and served as Agricultural Agent in Edwards and Rice counties.
       In 1953, Glenn was employed as Farm Representative of the First National
     Bank in Pratt. In 1968, Glenn moved to the Coats State Bank, later serving
     as it Executive Vice President. Glenn was a founder and charter member of
     the Kansas Association of Bank Agricultural Representatives and its third
     President. Glenn was a member, and at one time President, of the Sunflower
     Resource Conservation and Development Association (RC&D), a seven county
     conservaction development program, and helped organize the Gyp Hills Trail 
     Ride Association. Served in the Pacific Theatre, WWII, was a staff sargeant.
       Helen Inis HIbbard Shriver attended grade school in Medicine Lodge, Kansas,
     and also high school, and was active i music and dramatics. She also attended
     Stephens College at Columbia, Missouri, and Wichita University. After graduation
     from college, she was employed in personnel department of Beech Aircraft.
       Helen Inis Hibbard Shriver was active in Presbyterian Women, PEO, Parent
     Teachers in Pratt. She died of cancer, leaving three children: Carol Lynn
     Shriver Eubank, Barbara Kay Shriver Wright, and Allan Lee Shriver, ages 11,
     9, and 2. Lydia Cox of Byers, Kansas, came to help Glenn in rearing the
     children and later married his Father, Herschel.
       On 9 July 1916, Glenn married Pauline Shidler Lucas, who had three children:
     Karen Raye Schwartz, Harold Harrison Lucas, and Elizabeth Kay Lucas. The
     mixing of the two famiilies was an interesting life experience.
       Pauline Shriver was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Shidler and
     the niece of Raymond Shidler and Theodore Shidler, who resided on and operated
     and owned the Blue Bird Ranch near Lake City.
       Glenn and Pauline now reside on the Luther Place north of Coats, Kansas.
