William C. Shriver

  
       William Coulson Shriver was born 3 August 1901, Clearwater, Kansas,
     married 9 March 1923, Medicine Lodge, Kansas, to Carrie Esther Strickland,
     born 3 May 1901, Medicine Lodge, Kansas; died 1 July 1978, Norfolk, Virgina;
     daughter of Henry Lee and Edna (Cole) Strickland.
       Their children: Wanda Jacquline, born 24 April 1925, Medicine Lodge,
     Kansas; died 10 December 1926, Deerfield, Kansas. Gwendolyn Ann, born 27
     May 1931; married 19 June 1949, Holyrood, Kansas, to Wilbur Edward Kerns,
     born 26 June 1930, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gwendolyn and Wilber Kerns
     were the parents of four daughters: Constance, DeEtta, Erin, and Mona Renee.
       William (Bill) Coulson Shriver grew up on the family farm, attended high
     school at Medicine Lodge and became a school teacher, railroader, farmer,
     and lumberman, living in Barber, Kearney, Ford, Pawnee, and Ellsworth
     Counties, before his retirement when he moved to Virginia Beach, Virgina.
       Carrie Esther Strickland Shriver was born of a homesteader family, attended
     grade school at District 31, Mingona, Medicine Lodge High School. Carrie was
     a fun loving wife who enjoyed expressing her artistic nature in home decoration
     and personal dress. She found fault with no one.
