I grew up in southwest Missouri. I came to Kansas and was working on a
farm at Isabel, where I met and married Vita Lorraine Rose, on November
29, 1932. Vita grew up at Isabel.
Dorothy and Frances were born while we were farming at Isabel. We then
moved to Colorado to do some gold mining. Bob was born in Aspen, Colorado.
We moved back to Kansas in 1939 and ranched west of Medicine Lodge. Bill
and Mary Jane were born while we were ranching west of Medicine Lodge. The
children attended school at Mingona, until time for Dorothy to start high
school.
We moved into Medicine Lodge in 1949. I drove the Bickle Bus to Wichita
for one year, and farmed.
I went to work for the Champlin Service Station in 1951.
We moved the house onto the lot at 901 North Main in 1954, and have lived
there ever since. I worked at the Champlin Station and farmed until my
retirement in 1973.
Vita passed away on February 12, 1978. I still make my home in Medicine
Lodge.
Dorothy lives in Lilborn, Missouri. Frances lives in Wichita, Kansas. Bob
lives in Norfolk, Virginia. Bill lives in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. Mary
Jane lives in Garden Plain, Kansas.
