Robert C. Small

  
       Robert C. Small was born in 1903 at Gainseville, Missouri. Leona E.
     Hesterlee was born at Nottinghill, Missouri in 1906. They met first in
     1920.
       Bob spent three years in the U.S. Army at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He returned
     to Missouri in 1928 and Bob and Leona were married later that year in St.
     John, Kansas.
       Five children were born to this union: Betty Jean (Mrs. Noble Soper),
     John M., Bobbie, Elinor (Mrs. John Gallaugher), Guy B., and James R.
       In 1930 Bob, Leona and Betty moved to Pratt, Kansas where Bob was 
     employed by the Lemon Ranch at Coats, Kansas. They returned to Missouri
     until 1942 when the family moved to Elm Mills where Bob was caretaker
     for a resort there.
       In 1943 the family moved to Medicine Lodge where Betty was to begin
     high school. Bob was employed by Lodge Chevrolet and later by Sprout
     Motors. Leona was employed at the Sweet Shop then owned by Guy and Flossie
     Hittle.
       Bob, Leona and Jim moved to Wichita in 1949 where Bob was employed by
     a constuction firm and Leona worked for Beech Aircraft until she became
     ill in 1963. In 1964 they moved back to Medicine Lodge. Leona died in
     October, 1964.
       Robert married Ruth Rumsey in Augusta, Kansas and they now reside in
     Isabel, Kansas.
