Glenn Sternberger
Glenn's grandfather, Philip Sternberger, Sr., came to America in 1884
from Crippen, Germany. His wife Louise followed him the following year,
bringing with her five small children; the second one was Glann's father,
Henry Sternberger. They lived in Barber County a short time, then in 1893
homesteaded across the state line. They were now a family of ten children.
Henry married Edith Glenn Campbell, July 28, 1909, and they started their
home a short distance from the homestead. There were six children in their
family: Naurine, Glenn, Hazel, Marguerite, Wayne and Neva.
Glenn married his high school sweetheart, Berneice Johnson, October 15,
1934, at the Hardtner Methodist Church. We lived at the family home and
worked for his father. In 1936 we moved to our own home. We were blessed
with two children.
Our oldest daughter, Glenna Ann, was born July 31, 1938. She is married
to Charles Dunn and they have three children: Shelia Rae, Michel Glenn and
Laura Lee. They live at Skiatook, Oklahoma. Glenna is a housewife and mother
and raises Arabian horses.
Our second child, Larry Dean Sternberger, born November 19, 1940, lives
in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and teaches advanced math at the Tulsa Junior College.
The past year he finished his law degree at Tulsa University.
Our family have all been members of the Methodist Church at Hardtner and
all graduated from the Hardtner High School.
Glenn's mother died in 1947 and his father in 1952.
We bought the Homer Robert's Ranch in Barber County in September 1965
and have made our home there since. Glenn retired from farming this year
(1979). We plan to live here as long as our health permits.
