Robert E. Strack, D.D.S.

The Robert E. Strack family is relatively a newcomer to Barber County,
having moved to Medicine Lodge in the summer of 1962. Bob and Judy were
raised in Iola, Kansas, and were married there in 1954. For a few years
they led a rather nomadic life while Bob obtained his B.S. Degree from
Kansas State College in Pittsburg, taught biology in the high school at
Ulysses, Kansas, and then obtained his D.D.S. degree from the University
of Kansas City School of Dentistry. During those years they had three
children: Timothy Stephen (b.1956), Tambra Anne (b. 1957), and Catherine
Jane (b. 1958), and Judy was busy working full time outside the home.
At the time of their arrival in Medicine Lodge, Tim was six years old,
Tammy was five years old, and Cathy was four years old. The children
attended primary, intermediate and high school in Medicine Lodge and, of
course consider Barber County their home.
Bob joined the dental practive of Dr. Jack Marteney in 1962 and he
purchased the practive a year later. He became interested in horses during
his early years in the county, and the family raises and shows registered
Quarter Horses. Bob is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the
Kansas Quarter Horse Association and is active in the state and national
     dental associations.
In 1972, when her children were all in high school, Judy began taking
courses at Pratt Community Junior College where she received her A.A.
degree in 1974. She continued her education at Wichita State University
and received her B.A. in 1976. She is currently working on her Master's
degree in English at Wichita State University. For the past two years she
has been a part-tim English instructor at Pratt Community Junior College.
Since their graduation from high school, the Strack children have all
continued their education. Tim played football at Garden City Junior College
and at New Mexico State University, where he graduated May 12, 1979, with
a degree in Biology. He married Rhonda Trujillo of Las Cruces, New Mexico
on May 19, 1979. Tammy was an exchange student for one year in Scotland,
and then began college at Hutchinson Community Junior College where she
received her A.S. degree in 1978. She is currently majoring in dietetics
at Kansas State University and will graduate in May 1980. She married Brian
Poland of Isabel on August 11, 1979. Cathy graduated from Wichita State
Univesity in December 1978 as a licensed Paralegal. She is currently working
and living in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Stracks feel fortunate to live in Barber County and have formed
     friendships they will always treasure.
