Harry Tilden
Harry Tilden (1847-1928) and Ida Edes (daughter of Tom and Sarah Edes)
were married February 5, 1878. They moved from Sumner County, Kansas to
Barber County about 1890. They built a large white house west of the
present Lou Sleeper home (Cream Valley).
Harry Tilden owned a livery barn on the main street of Isabel. The
drummers (salesmen) would come to stay in Isabel and have Harry drive
them to the surrounding communities.
The livery barn was often a popular social gathering place. Many a
barn dance and good times were had there up through the 1920's.
Harry and Ida Tilden had four children: Martha Lee married Vic Sleeper,
Robert McLeod Tilden, Maud Estell married Frank Neff Strohl. Ida Bess
married Fred Thresher.
Ida Edes died in 1889 at the age of 32.
