Larry Warrington
Larry Warrinton and his wife, the former Patsy Zimmerman, have been in
the Barber County community for sometime.
Larry was born in the Union Chapel community, southwest of Medicine Lodge,
Kansas, September 20, 1940. He is the son of Harry and Pauline Warrington.
Patsy was born at Achenbach Memorial Hospital in Hardtner, Kansas, November
10, 1942. She is the daughter of the late Ralph and Alpha Zimmerman.
Larry attended school in Hardtner, Arkansas City, and Junction City, Kansas,
and graduated from Kiowa High School in 1958. After graduation, Larry joined
the U.S. Army for three years. While in the service, he spent 2 years in
Germany which was a highlight of his life. He returned to the States, spent
a year at Ft. Riley, Kansas, and received an honorable discharge in 1962.
He then returned to Kiowa, where he was employed by Chuck Payne Plumbing and
Heating.
Patsy attended the Kiowa Public Schools and graduated in 1960. After her
graduation, she attended the St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas,
for 2 years and took a Surgical Technician course and received her certificate
in 1962. Patsy returned to Kiowa and was employed at the Achenbach Memorial
Hospital in Hardtner, Kansas, where she worked in the surgery department and
assisted the doctors in the clinic.
Larry and Patsy were married June 6, 1964, in the Kiowa Methodist Church
in Kiowa, Kansas. In 1967 they moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, where Larry was
employed by the Warrington Plumbing and Heating Co. While in Hutchinson, their
first son, Bradley Dean, was born August 4, 1968, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.
On August 5, 1969, Larry and his family moved back to Kiowa to make their
home.
Larry returned to work for Chuck Payne in the plumbing business until he
started his own business un der the name of Larry's Plumbing in 1974, the
second son, Jason Shane, ws born on May 3 at Kiowa District Hospital.
The Warringtons enjoy gardening, fishing, and any other outdorr activity.
Larry enjoyes hunting and reading; Patsy enjoys canning produce from their
garden and being a mother. She is also employed at the Kiowa District Hospital
in Kiowa, working int he lab and x-ray department. Bradley, now 11, is in
the 6th grade at the South Barber Elementary School. He enjoys playing
baseball and swimming and playing with his classmates. Jason, now 5 is just
starting his schooling. He is in Kindergarten at South Barber Elementary
and enjoys it very much. He also enjoys swimming and just playing outdoors.
The Warringtons enjoy living in the Kiowa community and are proud to be
residents of Barber County.
