Henry Wehling (Hank) was born in Lanham, Nebraska, September 6, 1893.
     He came to Kansas with his family in 1900. Henry and Lillian Mease were 
     married September 6, 1917, in Pratt, Kansas. Lillian was born in Galena,
     Missouri, in February, 1894, and came to Barber County, Kansas, with her
     parents in 1912.
       Henry and Lillian (Lilli) lived on the Marshall farm for nearly 20 years.
     Here their three children were born in the house which has been torn down,
     like so many farm homes these days. In 1936 they bought the Wehling farm
     where they lived until 1955 when, due to Henry's poor health, they moved
     to Medicine Lodge. Henry died in March, 1967. Lillian still lives in her
     home in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
       Henry was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and served on the Cream
     Valley School board. Though he never had a music lesson, he played the
     fiddle or guitar for the Saturday night dances in the community.
       Lilli always planted a big garden, raised chickens, and sold eggs to
     Gerstner Hatchery. She did sewing for her mother's family and for her
     own family. They always milked cows and sold cream; with the money from
     cream and eggs they bought most of their groceries. They lived through
     the dust bowl on this farm during the thirties.
       The families went to Medicien Lodge on Saturday or Saturday nights.
     The streets were packed with people and cars. It was a time to visit 
     and shop for necessities.
       The three went to school at Cream Valley, or walked or rode a horse
     the 2 1/2 miles. They attended Isabel High School about the time that
     school busses began to run.
       Their children are Geraldine, who married Pat Dennis, and they have
     one son, Henry Clark; Edna married Orland DeWeese; they have two sons
     and a daughter, Larry married Sondra Ghere and has a daughter Tommye
     and a son Thad; Ronald married Janet Boalin and has a daughter, Elaine.
     Carol Jean married John Hough; they have a daughter, Margaret.
       Delbert Henry (now deceased) married Georgia Ross. They have three
     daughters and one son. Carol Lynn married Bobby Swinehart, and their
     children are Derrick, Jared, and Kory. Marilyn married Harold Lee and
     has a daughter, Tara. Delpha married Mike Vincent. The son, Kenneth Lee
     Wehling, is single.
