John Henry Wehling

John was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1865. He married Augusta Mahlmann
February 15, 1887. She was born 1866. John and August moved to Barber
County in 1907 buying a farm five miles south of Isabel and three miles
east. This farm is still owned by Mrs. Henry Wehling.
John and August had nine children: JOhn, Anna Laverentz, Henry, Laura
Mease, Van Roesller, Arthur, Fredrick, Julia Morisse, and Herbert. Most
of the children and their spouses owned farms in Barber County. The others
owned farms in Pratt and Kingman Counties.
John bought stock in a glass casket company out of Texas. With the stock
he received his own casket free, in which he is buried at Isabel. The
casket which is to be seald forever with a vacuum was very heavy and
required eight or ten pallbearers instead of the usual six. John only
weighed about 100 pounds at the time of his death in 1929. August died
     in 1941.
