Albert Bryan Wheelock
Albert Bryan Wheelock was born in Woods County, Oklahoma, October 28, 1906.
He was the seventh child of Albert Henry and Carrie Jane Wheelock. Albert
moved to Alva, Oklahoma with his mother and sister in 1916, after the death
of his father. He graduated from Alva High School and attended Northwestern
State College 2 1/2 years. He then went to Norman, Oklahoma and was a student
at the University of Oklahoma for one year.
Eva Helen Lloyd Wheelock was bornin Beaver County, Oklahoma, September 4,
1909, the daughter of Howard and Minnie Lloyd. After graduation from Laverne
High School, Laverne, Oklahoma, Eva attended Northwestern State College, Alva,
Oklahoma, for two years. She received a Life Teaching Certificate from here
and taught at Knowles, Oklahoma.
Albert and Eva were married in August of 1929. In the spring of 1930, they
moved to the Wheelock Homestead, raising cattle and farming wheat, and lived
there until the farm was sold in 1945. Then, they purchased the John Willan
farm, located 2 miles west of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Barber County, and have
lived here since that time.
Albert and Eva are the parents of four children: Beverly Jo was born in 1931
at Alva, Oklahoma; Albert Lloyd was born in 1934 at Alva, Oklahoma; Hugh
Howard was born in 1946 at the Hardtner Hospital; and Jayne E. was born in
1947 at the Hardtner Hospital.
