William G. Armitstead
William G. Armitstead was born February 17, 1864 in Devonshire, England.
Eleanor Walker was born May 10, 1861 in Yorkshiree, England. They were
married November 11, 1881 in England. William bought the homestead six miles
north of Isabel in 1899 and moved his family to that farm on March 3, 1900.
They moved to Pratt in 1914 when their son Edward was married and took over
the farm. Their other children were Jennie, Nellie. Jennie married Charles
Blackwelder and Nellie married Elmer Thomas. Ed's wife was Rae Thomas, a sister
of Elmer.
William Armitstead did apprentice with a veterinary in England and
attended to the Ashton neighborhood stock. Eleanor Armitstead was the
neighborhood nurse, hnelping with the delivery of babies and treating
other illnesses. Dr. Bucklin commended her for her home remedies.
