Ross Montclair Armstrong was born September 16, 1896 near Preemption,
     Illinois, the oldest son of Christopher and Elizabeth Thompson Armstrong.
     Ross came with his parents to Pratt County in 1904 and lived on a farm five
     miles east of Isabel. Ross met and married Ollie Doris Murray daughter of
     Rubin DeForrest Murray and Edith Blankenship. Ollie was born May 24, 1898 
     in Eskridge, Kansas and they were married May 2, 1917 in Kingman, Kansas.
          Ross and Ollie had six children: Claudina Maxine (1918), Victor Cecil
     (1919-1919), Dale Marion (1920), Junior LeRoy (1922), Mary Elizabeth (1925),
     and Joyce Delight (1927). The family farmed in Pratt and Kingman counties
     until 1934 at which time they moved back to Illinois. Ross died May 27, 1976
     and Ollie died December 31, 1980. Both are buried in the Preemption Cemetery,
     Mercer County, Illinois.
          Claudine married Donald Redecker. They have three children: Steven, 
     Kristine, and Randy. Dale married Dorothy Hall. Their children are Sharon,
     Karen and Ciney. Junior married Rosemary Rettig. They had four children:
     Susan, Leonard, Wayne and Joan. Rosemary died and he is now married to
     Martha Martin. Mary Elizabeth married Harry Berg. Their children were Mary
     Ann, Donna, Terry, Jimmy and Betty Jane. Joyce married Leland Burkle. They
     have four children: Connie, Thomas, Michael and Teresa.
