William Banks
William Henry and Annetta (Potter) Banks moved to Isabel, Kansas from
Reno County, Kansas in 1915. Nine of their twelve children moved with them.
Their three older sons JOhn, James (Jim) and Arthur (Art) went to Colorado
and homesteaded in Baca County. Arthur, his wife Gladys and their children
Ray and Ruth moved to the Banks home in 1925 and later settled on a farm
2 miles east and 1/2 miles north of Isabel, where he lived and farmed until
1952 when he retired and moved to Pratt, Kansas. John, Jim, Myrtle, Claude,
Della, Earl and Mary all married and settled in Reno County. Emma married
Guy Hiskett and with their children Garland, Velma and Vernon lived on a
farm across the road from the Banks home until Guy's death in 1942. Then
she moved to Pratt where she lives now. Jim, his wife Libbie and their
daughter Eva moved to the HIskett farm after Emma moved to Pratt. They
later moved into Isabel where they lived until Jim's death in 1957. Libbie
now lives in a rest home in Fontana, California. Roy, his wife Elsie and
their daughter Willa Jean lived in Isabel for several years. George was a
wanderer and traveled around the country for several years before finally
settling in Alaska. Walter (Walt) lived with Arthur and his family when he
wasn't working on the railroad. He eventually moved to Granger, Wyoming and
worked on the railroad for several years.
William, Annetta and four of their children Arthur, Roy, George and
Della were laid to rest in the Isabel, Cemetery.
