S.R. Blackwelder
Sam (S.R.) and Orlena Blackwelder moved from Springfield, Illinois to
Isabel in 1885. Their son Earl was two, Ida a few months when they came on
the train to Medicine Lodge bringing their wagon, livestock, and other
necessities - then by wagon to Isabel.
In 1900 they build a new home sout of Ashton School. Other children
were Charles, Eva, Rose, Bill, Roy and Edith. All the boys farmed in the
Isabel community at one time. S.R. retired and moved to Pratt, where he
spent the rest of his life.
